Report just released: Impact of Solar on Wetlands

The AB NAWMP Partnership recently released the report Miistakis completed on the impact of solar development and wetlands. Check it out!

In response to the growing energy industry in Alberta, the Alberta North American Waterfowl Management Plan (AB NAWMP) Partnership contacted Miistakis to find out more about how solar developments may impact wetland ecosystems and the important functions they provide. Read the report here! We summarize the current state of knowledge, identify areas where further research is needed, and summarize how jurisdictions in North America are responding to the need of wetland protection when solar energy is involved. This is still very much a growing field of knowledge. By continuing to understand the impact of solar development on wetlands, policymakers, industry stakeholders and wetland advocates can make informed decisions that balance the need of renewable energy with the importance of protecting Alberta's natural resources.
