Rocky Mountains

Many of you visit our website seeking general information on the Rocky Mountains. Although we compile information across this landscape, we are not yet suited to be a public resource point. We are, however, happy to provide you with some links to help you on your way. In addition to these, you might wish to visit the websites of our collaborators. For general info on the Rocky Mountains, we suggest you visit the CREILG page, or Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative. Both these sites are centered around ecosystem management.

Fish & Wildlife

Interested in Fish and Wildlife? A good place to start would be the Alberta Environment website for fish and wildlife. Need more specific information? Try the Eastern Slopes Grizzly Bear Project. For information on wildlife-human interactions, it's difficult to beat Dr. Luigi Morgantini's site at the University of Alberta. For photos on animals found in the Rockies try Wildlife of the Rocky Mountains.

Recreation

For an excellent overview of recreational opportunities in the Rockies, try the Canadian Rockies website. Another good start for recreation ideas in the Rockies is Rocky Mountain Recreation. Finally, Alberta Tourism has what you need to get you started.

History & Culture

Try the Whyte Museum for a local view on history of the Banff area. For archival records, including genealogy, try the Glenbow Museum in Calgary. Finally, for a broad perspective, the Provincial Museum of Alberta is a good source of information and links on our history and culture.
