Grassland Vegetation Inventory Outreach

In the fall of 2011, Miistakis partnered with the Government of Alberta and the Alberta Prairie Conservation Forum (PCF) to produce some communication materials for the provincial Grasslands Vegetation Inventory.

Alberta's GVI, updated regularly and still a work-in-progress, is the best freely-available spatial data representing Alberta's non-forested prairie landscapes. It is owned and maintained by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD), who use GVI internally to assist with conservation and land use planning. PCF is promoting GVI's broader use, in hopes that it will facilitate prairie conservation and responsible resource use by local land owners, municipal governments, the private sector, environmental NGO's, land trusts, etc.

Miistakis worked with PCF, the Government of Alberta, and users of GVI to build communication resources - posters and slide presentations - that demonstrate the use of GVI in various applications. To access these resources please click on the image of the poster, below:
