The "Highway Wildlife Mitigation Opportunities for the Trans-Canada Highway in the Bow Valley" report identified areas along the TCH where transportation mitigation is appropriate and cost effective to society to address from a human and wildlife safety perspective. In addition, an analysis of the Dead Man's Flats underpass and fencing developed with G8 funds, showed a reduction in wildlife vehicle collisions of 79% due to the underpass and fencing and a cost savings of $89,000 annually from a reduction in ungulate vehicle collisions.
