Nature Conservancy of Canada

back

Miistakis is currently working in close partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to develop Site Conservation Plans for priority conservation areas along the Rocky Mountains. Site conservation plans provide NCC with strategic direction for protecting and managing lands of high priority. Using The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Five-S framework, conservation strategies will be developed to conserve the dynamic, multi-scale ecological patterns and processes necessary to sustain biota and natural systems of the region.

In 2002, Miistakis and the NCC developed a Waterton Conservation Area Preliminary Management Plan for NCC lands of interest outside of Waterton Lakes National Park. The document identified conservation elements, stewardship goals, threats to conservation elements, strategies to protect the conservation elements and ways to monitor success.
