Together with Wildsight, Western Transportation Institute and Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, Miistakis is working to promote the safe passage of wildlife across Highway 3 in British Columbia from the provincial border to Cranbrook. On November 18th 2014, the partnership hosted a road ecology workshop in Fernie, BC to bring together provincial agencies, NGOs, first nations, local industry and communities with the goal of outlining steps to improve wildlife passage along this busy transportation corridor. An outcome of this workshop was support for the partnership to develop a citizen science program similar to Road Watch in the Pass on the Alberta side. A key feature of the new program will be an updated website, mapping tool and smartphone application to ease data collection. A user-needs assessment to inform program development is slated for early 2015.

Miistakis would like to thank Teck Resources, Crown of the Continent Roundtable and Patagonia for support of the partnership.
